Helped with a tough scene

I was stuck on a scene for my book and decided to try Sudowrite. I used the Dialogue Generator and it gave me some decent lines to work with. It wasn't perfect, but it helped me get unstuck, you know? I'm on the Hobbyist Plan right now, and it feels like a good fit for what I need. It's pretty cool for when you're just staring at a blank page.

Comprehensive features for writers

My experience with Sudowrite started with the free trial, which convinced me to subscribe to the Professional Plan. I've been using it for about two months now, focusing on the Describe and Rewrite functions. The Describe feature is particularly strong, offering vivid sensory details that I often overlook in my own writing. The Rewrite tool is great for varying sentence structure and finding new ways to phrase things. I also experimented with the Plot Hole Finder, and while it didn't catch every single one, it did highlight a few areas for improvement in my manuscript. Integrating it into my writing workflow was pretty straightforward, and I appreciate that they offer different plan tiers to accommodate various needs. The word count top-ups are also a nice option when you have a particularly intensive writing session.

Absolutely love Sudowrite!

I tried the free trial then immediately upgraded to the Max Plan! The Character Generator and Story Bible are absolutely fantastic for my fantasy series. It helped me flesh out so many details for my characters and world. I also used the Outline Generator, and it saved me so much time. I'm telling all my writer friends about this, it's been a game changer for my productivity. I can't wait to see what else they add!

Useful for drafting

I used the First Draft Generator for a short story. It gave me a good starting point. I upgraded to the Hobbyist Plan. It works.

Good tool, some UI quirks

I signed up for the Professional Plan last month and primarily used the Write and Brainstorm features. It's been really helpful for getting past writer's block and generating new ideas for my novel. The output quality is generally quite good, though sometimes it needs a bit of tweaking to fit my style. I did find the Canvas interface a little less intuitive than I hoped; it took a bit to get used to arranging ideas there. Overall, it's a solid tool for fiction writers, but there's a slight learning curve.

I think they sometimes have special promo codes for literary events too, not just Black Friday. You might get lucky around NaNoWriMo itself.

What happens if I use up all my word credits on Sudowrite before my month is over? Do I just have to wait or can I buy more?

D Daniel Perez 3 weeks ago
You can totally buy more! They have these 'top-up' packs you can get if you run out. It's pretty straightforward.

Yeah, I've had to do that a few times during heavy writing sprints. Just go into your account settings and there's an option to add more credits.

Thinking of trying Sudowrite but also looked at NovelCrafter. Anyone used both and have a preference for fiction writing specifically?

A Alex Jackson 1 month ago
I've used both! Sudowrite feels more geared towards creative prose and brainstorming wild ideas. NovelCrafter is good for organization but didn't spark the same creative flow for me.

Sudowrite's 'Describe' and 'Twist' features are fantastic for fiction. Never got that depth from NovelCrafter myself, felt a bit more generic for descriptive stuff.

Is it worth it to get the annual plan for Sudowrite? I'm debating between monthly and annual, trying to save some cash.

P Paul Jones 3 weeks ago
Yeah, if you're gonna use it for a while, the annual is definitely cheaper. I think it worked out to like a 20% savings for me when I switched over.

I'd say try the free trial first to make sure you like it, then if you do, go annual. No point paying for a full year if you don't end up using it much.

Does Sudowrite offer any sort of student discount? I'm on a pretty tight budget but really want to try it for my creative writing class.

D Danielle L. 2 weeks ago
I'm pretty sure they do! I remember seeing it mentioned somewhere. Check their FAQs or help section, I think there's info on how to apply.

Yeah, I think you have to prove your student status. Worth looking into, could save you a decent chunk of change.
